Mid Century Modern Chrome X Base Arm Chair-Hollywood Regency. Great design-crisp and clean lines representative of Modern streamlined design.
The Hollywood Regency style was characterized by high glamour and glitz and emerged through the work of interior designers, such as Dorothy Draper, Elsie de Wolfe, and William (Billy) Haines, who decorated the homes of film luminaries in Hollywood’s Golden Age of the 1930s.
Furnishings combined clean lines with fancy detailing and shiny finishes to transform homes into luxurious showpieces. Reflective surfaces achieved with lacquer and chrome and mirrors were prominent .
Today’s interpretations of the style, reacting to the minimalism and neutral palettes of modernism, incorporate a variety of influences, from Art Deco and mid-century to neoclassical and opulent glam.
Hollywood Regency, Hollywood Modern, Hollywood Retro are all terms that describe one of the Most Excellent trends in home decorating today.
This chair is in great condition, some very slight wear to the fabric only at the tips of the arms , as shown in close up. Nice diamond pattern fabric and very solidly constructed chair.

| Great pair of Mid Century Modern Lounge Chairs. These chairs feature incredible curves and retro design. They are upholstered Bent Tubular Chairs, one black and one brown, c. 1960. Very comfortable-some wear to the edges and a couple of worn through spots on the back sides. They unzip for easy cleaning. Each chair measures: 28 1/2" high x 24" wide x 32" deep.

Pair Matching Wassily Chairs: Marcel Breuer
A modern Icon, the Wassily Chair is a symbol of the industrial heroism and engineering invention of the early 20th century. Chrome plated tubular steel frame. Seat back and armrests made of full grain leather straps. Made in Italy.
The Wassily Chair, also known as the Model B3 chair, was designed by Marcel Breuer in 1925-1926 while he was the head of the cabinet-making workshop at the Bauhaus, in Dessau, Germany.
The Wassily Chair is probably the best known Bauhaus design and the first armchair ever made of steel. The legend says it was made for the living room of Wassily Kandinsky's house while he was a teacher at the Bauhaus. It marked the beginning of a new era in modern furniture with a design that maintains a progressive look even today.
Breuer found his inspiration for the chair in the bent form of a bicycle handlebar, available for the first time in steel due to a development in technology. The German steel manufacturer Mannesmann had developed a process to produce seamless steel tubing, the first to allow tubes to be bent without breaking at the seam. Breuer’s Adler bicycle featured such tubing, which inspired the designer to employ this material in furniture.
Marcel Breuer is considered one of the fathers of Modernism.

Mid-century modern lounge chair Vladimir Kagan, Craft Associates, Adrian Pearsall Era. Possibly DUX. This arm chair features a dramatic angled base and legs with incredible teak wood. 'Bertoia Diamond Chair'- designed by Harry Bertoia for Knoll International in 1952. White enameled metal wire chairs with black bases. Chair measures 33 1/2"" wide x 26" deep x 30" tall. Good vintage condition, Base has some wear, wear is commensurate with age.
A classic, modern design that enhances any environment, sculptor Harry Bertoia's Diamond Lounge chair remains a fascinating study in bent metal and a fixture of mid-century design.
Bertoia(1915-1978)emigrated from Italy to America in 1930. From 1939 to 1943, he set up a metal workshop and began to teach jewelry and metal working. In 1943, he worked with Charles and Ray Eames and experimented on molded-plywood seating. In 1950, he established a studio in Pennsylvania and introduced his famous 'Diamond' chair made of welded steel lattice work. The success was immediate and since 1952 Bertoia's Diamond chair has been an icon of Modern Design. |

These vintage Danish Modern chairs were imported by the New York retailer George Tanier, an American pioneer retailer of mid century modern danish furniture. The New York City store offered the best in Danish furnishings. The chairs were made in Denmark. One of the seats under the cambric is marked as such. These solid teak chairs feature bentwood back legs that support 3 curved slats that conform to your back. The chair rails are nicely arched and the legs are slightly splayed. Has new upholstery which is a salmon colored. Each chair has the original George Tanier label on the bottom. Nice overall condition. One chair does have a couple of marks on the back legs where something ran down the legs and slightly discolored the finish.

Four Woven Fiber Upholstered Wooden Dining Chairs, attributed to Jens Risom, unmarked, (some fiber breaks )
Jens Risom is a Scandinavian designer who emigrated from Europe to the U.S. in 1939 when he was just 23 years of age. In 1941 he designed the first chair manufactured by Knoll. Risom continued to create simple, well-crafted modern furniture with Knoll and George Jensen, but established his own design studio, Jens Risom Design, in 1946. In the 1970's, he acted as a trustee of the Rhode Island School of design. Now in his eighties, Jens Risom continues to be active and his work continues to reflect the Danish approach to modernism, with its emphasis on traditional values and the human need for warmth, beauty and simplicity. Modern American design owes much to his unfailing sense of proportion, commitment to practicality and insight into the forms of modern living.
Provenance: Estate of Richard Filipowski (1923-2008), a sculptor of international repute who taught visual design at the School of Architecture, MIT.

This is marked on the underside "Cole Steel Made In USA". This looks just like the Eames design executed by Herman Miller. It has black metal legs with glides. The seat is constructed of fiberglass.

| Great pair of Mid Century Modern Stools. These can be used as Bar Stools, Patio Stools or Counter Stools. Very versatile chairs with a great look! They feature a scoop seat done in rattan/wicker and a tall metal frame that is angular and splayed at the bottom. Bases are painted green. The seats clamp onto the frames in the back, so are removable for shipping purposes.
Measure: 24" wide x 22" deep x 41" high. Nice condition with the exception of some loose strands of rattan, predominantly on the back of one stool.

| This is a fabulous Danish Modern Lounge Chair designed by Peter Hvidt. Danish designer Peter Hvidt (1916-) was trained as an architect and as cabinetmaker at the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen. Throughout the latter part of the 1940s, Hvidt produced furniture that was basically very traditional, but which often manipulated the standards of furniture design in some very subtle way. This solid teak chair features a wide seat and armrests that are curved. It has a great flowing curves design with a woven reed back. It has 2 removable cushions that are done in retro orange fabric. It measures 31" wide x 33" deep x 28" tall and is in great condition. Some very slight warping of the reed back, nothing major. This chair would compliment and Danish Modern Decor! |
